Nordic Jan 21

Kaslo Nordic Ski Trails grooming report for Wednesday January 21 by Stu Heard and Sarah Heard

It was -3C at Moose Meadow cabin at 2pm when we started grooming, and the tracks were hard and icy…..but they aren’t now!

We groomed and set new ski track from Hwy 31A to the Yew Cabin and Prayer Flags, and groomed/knifed the Bucky Cabin wilderness ski route with good success in breaking up the surface and creating a soft snow over a hard pack base. We set double track from Hwy 31A parking lot to Moose Meadow cabin, and single track from MM Cabin to Prayer Flags. We knifed, groomed and set no track along 7 Mile FSR from Prayer Flags to Bucky Cabin. It seems that with this hard ice layer, even the Moose are moving lower out of the hard crust.

Overall, the skiing is fast and hard with soft snow for snowplowing slowing down.

Happy Trails
Sarah and Stu
