Shed Workparty Saturday May 13

KORTS has acquired access to a Village owned shed that we plan to upgrade and use for tool storage. It’s located just outside the Village Shop fence on the west side and its previous life was as a Kaslo Market storage shed downtown.

Tom Duchastel will lead a carpentry work part starting at 9am Saturday May 13. Tom will supply tools and says “Carpentry skills an asset but not necessary”. Meet at The Shed. For further information please contact Tom directly 250-353-7427 duchasteltom@gmail.com

Trail work May 8 9am to noon

 Hi Everyone

This Monday’s work party is a bit of a departure from what we usually do, but we thought it important to do a Highway cleanup. There are 2 Hwy cleanup events planned for this week…..the first one on Monday by KORTS is the Hwy 31 entrance into Kaslo from the south hill top to the highway bridge. The second one on Wednesday is organized by Vida Turok in Sandon and is Hwy 31A from South Fork to Retallack.

Monday May 8 @ 9am meet at the YRB Yard just off Birch Ave. Turn left on Fourth Ave at the top of Hwy 31 going south from Kaslo. Wear gloves and bring a garbage picker if you have one. YRB is supplying garbage bags and some safety vests but if you have your own vest please wear it. We will be walking along Hwy 31 from the YRB yard and picking / bagging garbage as we go. If we have time and energy or lots of people we can do the section leading south out of Kaslo past the businesses.

New bridge date & Wednesday work party

It looks like all is in place for the bridge girders to be slung across the Kaslo river this Thursday, July 2. The actual time is a bit "iffy" but its suspected to be around noonish….I will send out a notice if that time is going to change. Once again, if you are planning to watch, please go to the north side.

With Wednesday being Canada Day, we will not be having a trail work party this week, and after Thursday it will be "all hands on deck" for the bridge.

Should be fun!

No Wednesday work parties for a while

There will be no trail work parties on Wednesday's for the next while as all hands will be working on the bridge, which will be slung into place on Thursday (if all goes as planned).

If you are planning to watch the process we would ask that you do so from the north side of the river, since the crane will be working from the south side. Once we know a time that the crane will be arriving, we will send out a notice and post in on the Kaslo Community web.

Trail work party Wednesday April 1 9am - noon

There will be a trail work party this Wednesday (no, this isn't an April Fools joke) to remove fallen trees at the south side trail viewpoint and repair the guard rail system there. We will also do some tread widening along the open slope area adjacent to the red bridge on the north side trail where it sluffed in this spring.  For tools, a rake and shovel would be good.  Polaskis will be provided.
