KORTS Trails Work Parties May 28 and June 6, 2024

Our next 2 KORTS work parties will focus on the KOOTS sculptures area on the Kaslo River South trail and painting the outhouse interior.  We will be delineating walking routes around the sculptures with logs, and hardening off the preferred pathways with gravel. Our first work party will be Tuesday May 28 starting at 9am and meeting at the Arena Ave trailhead (at the west end of Arena Ave). We will be cutting and placing the logs. The second work party for this project will be Thursday June 6 @ 9am again meeting at Arena Ave trailhead. We will be wheelbarrowing gravel from an existing gravel pile near the outhouse, and spreading/tamping the gravel into paths and viewing areas within the log perimeter.

Dan Miles will be coordinating and providing tools and paint for painting the interior of the outhouse on May 28.

The plan is to cut some of the many downed/fallen logs in the area and lap join / pin them in place using ½” rebar on the first day, then wheelbarrow and spread gravel on the second day. We will have a generator for drilling holes and chainsaws for cutting the wood, wheelbarrows and rakes.
