Hello there,

Friends of Kootenay Lake would like to invite you to a Community Shoreline Restoration Event on July 4th at the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area (see event poster attached).

We are looking for volunteers to come and assist with an innovative research project to treat yellow flag iris infestations using benthic barriers (rubber membranes) and help reduce the threat of this priority invasive species from entering Kootenay Lake. The main project goal is to determine how effective the benthic barriers are to control and/or eradicate current yellow flag iris infestations. We need you help to install the benthic barriers, following the protocol developed by Thompson Rivers University, and for clipping flower heads and seed pods.

When: July 4th 10am-1pm
Where: Meet at the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area at 1760 West Creston Road, Creston BC

This project has been made possible by leadership and support from the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society, Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area, Thompson Rivers University, and the Columbia Basin Trust.

We would also like to invite you to SAVE THE DATE on Saturday October 24th for the 3rd Annual Kootenay Lake Summit which will take place in Nelson BC.  More details to come :)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Many thanks,
